In a world where young professionals chase corporate dreams in tech cities like Bengaluru, one young engineer decided to bring technology home. Ritvik Shah, a software engineer by profession, once worked at a prominent tech firm in Bengaluru. But while the metro buzzed with apps, deliveries, and endless convenience, Ritvik couldn’t help but think — why not Pithoragarh?
That question marked the beginning of a journey that would change how people in his hometown experience food.
From Tech Hubs to Mountain Roads
Armed with experience in software and product design, Ritvik took a bold step — he left his comfortable job in Bengaluru and returned to Pithoragarh, determined to build something of his own.
He noticed a simple gap: while big players like Zomato and Swiggy dominated metros, smaller towns like Pithoragarh were left underserved. The local food scene was rich, the appetite for convenience was growing, but there was no organized food delivery model.
So Ritvik decided to create one — Daju Meals.
Building From Scratch
Starting was anything but easy. With no established system, Ritvik had to convince local restaurants to come on board, register their menus, and trust a young entrepreneur’s digital vision. Marketing the service in a small town with limited digital reach was another challenge — one that demanded creativity and persistence.
From personally visiting eateries and explaining the concept, to training delivery staff and handling logistics himself, Ritvik built the foundation brick by brick (and byte by byte).
Gradually, word spread. People began ordering. Restaurants saw value. And a once one-man idea started becoming a community-driven success story.

The Model That Outperformed the Giants
Today, Ritvik’s local delivery app Daju Meals has become a trusted name in Pithoragarh’s food scene. What began as a small startup has evolved into a robust local ecosystem connecting restaurants, delivery partners, and customers — all within a few kilometers of the town.
And the results speak for themselves: data shows that Ritvik’s platform now performs better than Zomato in the Pithoragarh region, with faster delivery times, stronger local partnerships, and higher customer satisfaction.
It’s not just about efficiency - it’s about understanding local needs. From handling orders in hilly terrains to knowing the best hours for local cafés, the platform’s success lies in its heart - its connection to the people it serves.
A Story of Return, Resilience, and Reinvention
Ritvik’s story is a powerful example of reverse migration done right — where skills gained in global cities are brought back to uplift local communities. His vision bridges the gap between technology and tradition, showing how innovation can thrive even in small towns when driven by purpose.
More importantly, he has inspired a new generation of Pithoragarh’s youth to believe that startups aren’t only born in Bengaluru or Gurugram - they can rise from the hills too.
From coding in tech parks to creating convenience in mountain towns, Ritvik Shah has delivered more than just food - he’s delivered a message: that ambition doesn’t always mean leaving home. Sometimes, it means coming back to build something the mountains can proudly call their own.
